We build satellites
M-SAT (Missouri S&T Satellite Research Team) is a student-led aerospace research organization dedicated to advancing small satellite technology at Missouri S&T. As one of the university’s premier long-term technical teams, M-SAT brings together students from a wide range of backgrounds to design, build, test, and operate spacecraft for real-world missions.
Our work spans the full satellite development lifecycle. From mission planning and systems engineering to hardware development, software design, and on-orbit operations. The team is structured into specialized subgroups that collaborate to solve complex engineering challenges while pursuing meaningful research and innovation.
M-SAT values technical excellence, hands-on learning, and a strong team culture. Together, we strive to push the boundaries of what student teams can accomplish in space, contribute to the scientific community, and represent Missouri S&T on a national stage.

MR & MRS SAT
Testing a stereoscopic imaging system to digitally reconstruct a partner satellite.
DEXSTR
Demonstrate use of doppler rate and doppler shift in a geolocation algorithm onboard a 3U Cube-Sat to geolocate an emergency beacon.

M3
Demonstrated use of a new electrospray propulsion multi-mode thruster into a 3U CubeSat. This was launched into space in the year 2024!
